Sompon Socialservices Baden-Württemberg e.V. is a non-profit organisation for the promotion of education, public and vocational training, including student welfare in Germany and abroad. Founded in 2009 in Esslingen (Baden-Würrtemberg), the registered association is a recognised independent organisation of child and youth welfare according to the social law SGB VIII and provides social work with a racism critical and intercultural orientation. The registered association is active both locally in Esslingen, regionally in Göppingen and Eberbach, and internationally in partnerships with civil organisations from numerous European and African countries. The non-profit organisation is also recognised as a provider for developmental volunteer services.
The purpose of the organisation is realised in particular by:
- information and knowledge transfer on topics related to One World, development and racism.
- social and life counselling for parents with a migration background
- individual and group work for children and young people
- accompaniment and empowerment of children and young people
- organizing cultural and development education events in Germany and abroad
- public relations work in the field of education, upbringing, development, Migration, inclusion and intercultural work, as well as about the aims and work of the association.
- the implementation of German language courses and other language courses
- carrying out exchange programmes
- counselling, guidance and support for families in educational matters
- the implementation of leisure and holiday programmes
- the promotion and implementation of projects that enable development cooperation with southern countries.
- the creation and maintenance of educational, cultural and social facilities and advice centres
- the [establishment and maintenance of] facilities for the care of children (kindergartens, day care centres, etc.)
- promoting pre-school, school and extra-curricular education
- cooperating with all other institutions of youth work, social services, educational counselling centres, churches and other cooperation partners in and abroad.

- Sompon Socialservices Baden-Württemberg e.V. is run by people who are migrants themselves. We know from our own biography what it means to be integrated in a new country. We know what it means to have more than just a home. And we know from our own experience how inclusion and living together can be learned – even in difficult life situations.
- Getting to know and living one’s own strengths anew…
- Cohesion in a migration society can only succeed if all people can meet each other at eye level. But this requires self-confident people. In order to gain this self-confidence, it is especially necessary for young people to get to know and live their own strengths. For us, dealing with one’s own biography is an essential instrument for such empowerment processes.
- Diversity-friendly but critical of discrimination…
- No one is like the other. This is all the truer in a migration society. In order to be able to live diversity, it is of utmost importance to anchor the principle “Yes to difference – No to discrimination” also in social pedagogical work. Our team consists of staff members who live this principle themselves and incorporate it into their work.
